The photoshop sketch:

The two negs that went into this:

A table set-up at Cliff House/Ocean Beach/ SF, CA..

and....

...Barker Dam Lake - Joshua Tree N.P., CA.

I changed my mind on which neg of Barker Dam lake to use in the print -
if you look closely, you will see the difference -
the neg i finally chose has a few rocks in the foreground.

The best two of the final four darkroom prints:

The dodging on this one is ridiculously simple - the table neg
gets dodged out to '0' just to the right of center..
and the Joshua Tree neg.
gets dodged out to '0' at about the middle of the table.
It's a bit unpredictable how they blend together,
alotta photogs these days w/ photoshop don't like 'unpredictable'.
Me?... hey, that's the fun part :-)

The other two prints:

# 3

# 4

Why are these two 'out-takes'/not as good as the first two?

I like the way the Barker Dam Lake image flows into the white table cloth
in the first two. It's got more 'mystery', plain and simple.

(When I have prints that don't make the final cut,
they usually are good candidates for handcoloring.
More on that topic (handcoloring) later...)
