Flight school

I found the trashed chair in an equally trashed house somewhere in the Mojave Preserve area - I stop at _all_ crumbling buildings I pass by - I like both 'architectural' and 'crumbling' things... A chair has always been a 'pregnant' sort of symbol for me, too. This one has an 'exploded' look to it, like a concussion grenade was tossed into the room - that feeling is in counterpoint to the dappled effect of the light, which is 'inviting'. Perhaps, if I were to brush a few things off the chair, and sit down, I might have ...far-fetched thoughts' ? .... a 'flight....' of sorts?...

I exposed the chair on about 3 or 4 sheets of 16x20, and 'built around it'.

The wings above the chair were shot on a seamless background, on my kitchen table ( after i clipped the wings off a dead cormorant i found on the beach, brought them home, and 'dried them out' while they were tacked to foam core w/ pins)
The gutted building at the top right is at Alcatraz, in SF Bay.... The gulls were shot at Ocean Beach, SF, when someone was brazen enuf to offer them some bread, and created a flock out of thin air....
